We are seeking a seasoned Web Development Manager to lead our team of developers and contractors. A successful candidate will have a strong technical background in web development, particularly WordPress, and the capacity to coach and guide the team toward our vision. They will work closely with our Director of Web Technology to ensure the smooth running of projects, driving consistency and quality across all of our deliverables. This is a full-time, salary position.

Requirements:

  • Experienced leaders with a track record of managing development teams
  • Skilled at mentoring and developing team members, emphasizing superior customer service
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in web development, with a focus on WordPress
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Strong understanding of the WordPress ecosystem, including the development and management of custom themes and plugins
  • Proficient in using GitHub for version control
  • Ability to perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback
  • Strong understanding of web hosting, domain management, and DNS
  • Experience in a digital marketing agency or a similar environment
  • Team player who fosters excitement and a sense of urgency within internal teams

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Experience with headless CMS and static site generators such as Sanity.io and Gatsby.js
  • Experience managing web applications on Linux servers and platforms such as Heroku and Netlify
  • Background in front-end development and some knowledge of backend development, especially in a WordPress context
  • Experience in scoping and quoting web projects

On a daily basis, the Development Manager will:

  • Coach and manage the web development team, promoting consistency and high-quality work
  • Attend interdepartmental meetings, providing expertise and insight from a web development perspective
  • Assist in quoting and scoping web projects
  • Conduct code reviews and assist in debugging and problem-solving activities
  • Work with project managers to ensure on-time delivery of web projects
  • Assist with technical tasks as needed, particularly related to elevated website tickets
  • Serve as T3 development support
