From $3M to $10M: The Home Service Marketing Blueprint That Works

Listen Now

Chad Peterman, Peterman Brothers
Many of our listeners are focused on growing and scaling their businesses, and often, there’s a hurdle getting to the next big step. On today’s episode of To The Point, host Chris Yano talks to co-host Chad Peterman of Peterman Brothers about his journey getting his company over the $3 million, $10 million, and $50 million marks and what it takes for someone to do the same!

From Scrappy to Scaling

As Chad thinks back to his early time at Peterman Brothers, it was a lot of hustling and wearing all the hats. It was a smaller team, and there wasn’t a big focus on the business as much as there was just getting the work done. What he credits to growing to $3 million was partially luck, but mostly just the blood, sweat, and tears it takes. It’s hard work!

Once you get to that $3 million-to-$5 million mark, that’s when you’ll find yourself needing to plan a bit more. Getting to the next level is always a math plan, so break it down backward. How much do you need to make a year to hit your goal? How much per month? A day? How many techs will you need? Do you need to start thinking about service managers, or building out a call center?

Above all, though, it’s finding the blueprint. Chad and Peterman Brothers joined Nexstar, and there are a ton of other best practices groups and mentors out there these days that any business can learn from. While there might be some things that don’t work for your business or things you end up modifying, the important thing is that you actually implement what you’ve learned. Go out there and make the mistakes and learn the lessons. That’s what it takes!

In this episode, Chris Yano and Chad Peterman talk about:
  • The checkpoints along the way from $1 to $10 million and beyond
  • Chad’s “scrappy” period at Peterman Brothers
  • The importance of helping others in our industry grow
  • Why implementing what you’ve learned is integral
  • Finding a blueprint and sticking to it
  • Putting in the hard work to grow a business
  • Why a best practices group like Nexstar is huge

Even at its current size, Chad is still focused on the fundamentals when it comes to his business. No matter how far you scale, you need that solid foundation of blocking and tackling with high efficiency to grow even further.

Put in the Work!

Fresh off of RYNOx 2025, there are lots of great ideas out there. But an idea isn’t worth a damn if you don’t do something with it! Chad’s advice is to keep things simple. You’ll make mistakes, but the important thing is that you actually try things. Take the blueprint and follow it, and learn the lessons you need to learn. If you’re putting in the work, it will pay off.

Until next time…NO. ZERO. DAYS.
