Can You Be Better Than the Next Guy?
For Terry, resilience was always part of his journey. While he’s an easygoing man, don’t let that fool you into thinking he didn’t put in the hard work to have the level of success that he did in his career. According to him, resilience is how you respond to wanting something so bad and seeing someone else get it (like when he was benched back in 1974). Do you just give up and accept that you’re not as good as the next guy? Or do you push ahead and become better?
You have the title and deed to your dream. If you give up on that, you don’t have resilience. Failing is part of life. After a setback, you have to dust yourself off, figure out why it happened, and move forward becoming better for it. It’s true in your personal life, and it’s true in business.

Teamwork Wins (In Business, Too!)
Terry remembers the variety of personalities and egos on the championship Steelers teams he played on. He recalls the intense back-and-forths he would have with Coach Noll. Still, they came together as a team to achieve their goal. In business, it’s no different. While you might have a variety of talents and personalities, it’s how you bring the pieces together that matters most. A collective goal you’re working toward, and the teamwork to make it happen.
