No great success comes without a journey. No mountain is climbed without pain and struggle. So on today’s episode, we’re bringing back the great Tommy Mello, CEO of A1 Garage Door Service.
Tommy grew his business into the best nationwide garage door company of over 200MM and is a prominent entrepreneur in the home services space as well as a top podcast host. While he certainly knows how to grow a fantastic business with a culture where everyone wins, he’s also a human being that had to learn a lot along the way. WIthout further ado, let’s tap into the personal life of Tommy Mello and find out what made him the home services powerhouse he is today!
With a highly successful business and hundreds of guest appearances on podcasts and keynote speeches, everyone wants to be around Tommy Mello. But what you may not know is that despite all the success, Tommy is a humble guy who has had his fair share of struggles and adversity to overcome. At the very start of the COVID pandemic, Tommy – like the rest of the world – didn’t know how bad it was going to be. That started him on a journey of reflecting, and he didn’t exactly love what he saw.
While business was booming, Tommy hadn’t been taking the best care of himself physically or mentally. He started a healthy journey and began cutting out things like alcohol and sugar from his diet. Before long, his brain felt healthier. He became a morning person for the first time in his life. Then during the pandemic, Tommy had a different kind of wake-up call. His dad almost died from COVID, and Tommy made a deal with God that if he let his dad live, he’d pay Him tribute. Now, Tommy is baptized, going to church, and his current journey into his faith is something he’s excited to start sharing about.

When Tommy thinks about his legacy, it’s not just AI Garage Doors that comes to mind. It’s a lot deeper than just business. What he really wants is that when he’s buried, everyone remembers him as a good person. Someone who was funny, that kept his word, and made things just a bit better when he was in your life whether it was in business, as a friend, or as family. The bottom line? That he added more value than he took.
