Listen Now

What does it take to build and scale multiple service companies? On today’s episode of To The Point, hosts Chris Yano and Chad Peterman sit down with Cameron Bawden, the serial entrepreneur behind multiple 8- and 9- figure exits. From knocking on doors to exiting from 5 companies for over $100M, Chris shares with our listeners what it takes to be in the 1% of businesses that grow past $10M and succeed. Listen or watch now!

Building an Empire

In 2009, Cameron was fresh back from his LDS mission in Edmonton, CA. He wanted to get into real estate, but with the market in shambles, life took him another direction. His friend recruited him into pest control, and together they started Green Mango Pest Control.

For the first 6 years, Cameron didn’t take any money out of the business. Once things took off, however, he felt untouchable. He and his business partner launch five other service companies within 18 months, and he was finally seeing the fruits of his labor. However, in 2019, their biggest investor pulled out, and Cameron found himself with 5 companies and $4M in debt.

Over the next 6 years, Cameron successfully pulled himself out of debt, continued to scale, and made 5 incredible exits totalling over $100M. Now, he’s giving other contractors the roadmap to it all!

In this episode, we talk to Cameron about:
  • Learning to overcome the fear of rejection with sales
  • Overcoming $4M in debt after a big investor pulled out
  • Marketing tactics that work
  • The story behind the Green Mango brand
  • Why holding your entire team accountable changes everything
  • How finding balance impacts happiness no matter what business brings
  • The power and impact of having a mentor
  • Post-sale life and the 1% Club
  • And more!

The System that Built it All

After exiting, Cameron didn’t take off a year like he thought he would. He likens himself to a hunter, and can’t imagine being away from the thrill of the hunt. Now, he’s even business than before! He’s helping scale Coconut Cleaning, a franchised cleaning company that is on pace to hit a quarter-billion in revenue in the next 3-4 years. Not only that, he’s found an organic space to help give back to other business owners what helped him succeed.

One of the most important things Cameron has learned on his journey is the importance of having a mentor. The 1% Club is a consulting group and community that helps those owners who are in the trenches alone. It’s about growing every single day, and being part of that 1% of companies who achieve $10M and profitability. Want to learn more? Check out the 1% Club website!
